Mr. Watanabe acts as an Advisor on the Firm’s Board of Advisors for Japan. A Bachelor of Economic Management from Sophia University, Tokyo, he retired from IHI Infrastructure Systems Co. Ltd. where he served as General Manager – Administration for the dedicated freight corridor (DFC) railway project at Delhi. Prior to IHI, Mr. Watanabe was associated in various capacities and roles with ANZ Bank for 35 years and was Director – Corporate and Institutional Bank at ANZ Tokyo when he had to take compulsory retirement in 2012 upon attaining the age of 60 years. During his tenure at ANZ Bank / ANZ Grindlays bank, he was also stationed in India from 1990 to 1996 at Regional Manager for Japanese Business and was responsible for India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal. He has had vast and varied experience with global assignments including the Middle East, South East and India and worked for businesses in more than 30 countries. His core experience lies in infrastructure projects, foreign exchange regulation etc.
